What It Means to be Born Again

(John 3:3 KJV) "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

To be born again means that a new creature was begotten by spiritual methods. (John 3:6 KJV) "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

When one is born again, he becomes a child of God. (Rom 8:10 KJV) "And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness."

When one is born again, he begins to live a new life-eternal life. At once our sins are forgiven; our guilt is gone. We are at peace with God; we have new goals and attitudes. And at death we enter a still higher life of joy. Eternal Life is true living-forever! (2 Cor 5:17 KJV) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

You can learn more about being born again from God's book, the Bible. (1 Pet 1:23 KJV) "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

This may be hard for you to understand. It was hard also for Nicodemus when Jesus told him. Read the story in the third chapter of the Gospel of John. Jesus wanted Nicodemus (and He wants you) to be born again to everlasting life. And so He said: (John 3:16 KJV) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
