The Vision

From the Headmaster

Our foundation year is coming to a close. Those that have had faith in what God is doing through Richmond Academy have not been disappointed. Those that have entrusted Richmond Academy to their child’s future have had no regrets. We consider ourselves successful at meeting our objectives in our first year.

Now we look to the future for Richmond Academy. There are many families interested in enrolling their children for the 2004-05 school year. At the bottom of this page, you will find a $50 per child incentive to enroll before April 1.

As our school grows, we are planning for changes associated with growth. In order to continue to provide the highest quality in educational services, our Parent’s Association has initiated a Triune Banquet and Silent Auction for May 15. You will find information about this on page 2 and on the enclosed insert.

We are pressing ahead to see our vision fulfilled and we look forward to many more years of relationship with you.

-Dr. S. Chad Ross

$50 per Student

If we receive your new student application before April 1, 2004, you will receive a fifty dollar certificate per child with your enrollment packet. This certificate is for fifty dollars off your first month tuition payment for the 2004-2005 school year. Sign and return this coupon with your application.

Triune Banquet & Silent Auction

Richmond Academy is a non-profit, private school whose purpose is to nurture and develop the whole student - not just to educate the mind. The goal of the school is to do more than simply educate young people for college; rather, we are preparing them for life. We are a partnership of home and school, working together for the purpose of preparing students academically, spiritually and emotionally for the challenge of life.

We depend on the contributions made by individuals, businesses, and organizations for our ability to increase our services to our community.

In an effort to raise funding that allows Richmond Academy to continue to offer the highest possible quality of services and programs, we are planning our Triune Banquet and Silent Auction. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at MCL Cafeteria at 6:00 p.m. As with any fundraiser, sponsors are greatly needed. We are asking for your help. In order to assist us in our planning for this event and to meet our printing deadlines, we would request that if you would like to be a sponsor that we would receive your response by no later than April 2, 2004. We would appreciate any donation you would like to give.

If you are not able to make a cash donation, perhaps you, or your business, would consider donating an item of value (e.g., a night’s stay, a gift certificate, merchandise, etc.) that can be used to help Richmond Academy raise funds. We would appreciate any donation you would like to give. In return, you or your business’s name will be included in our program as a donor.

Tickets for the event are also available at a cost of $12.00 per person or $22.00 per couple. We are offering live entertainment, and guests will enjoy a great selection of food purchased separately from the cafeteria. The number of tickets available is limited to seventy-five and will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

If you have any additional questions or need further information, please contact us at 765-962-7677 or by email at . Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

R.A.P.A.

My Thoughts on Richmond Academy

In my opinion, Richmond Academy is cool. There are some things that are different from the public school. Most of these are good, but there are a few that I am getting used to.

Some of the positive changes for me are better grades and earlier daily release. Here at RA, I can concentrate better on my school work, and the other students like me. When I was in the public school, I had students who did not like me. It is nice to come to a place where I am liked.

As for the things I am getting used to, I have to wear a button up shirt every day, and I have to keep it tucked in. So, the dress code is stricter. The only other point is that I like all kinds of music, but some of the music I listen to is not permitted here at Richmond Academy.

In closing, Richmond Academy is much better than the public schools. Thanks Richmond Academy!

The Passion of the Christ

Mel Gibson's $25 million project turned out to be a tragic masterpiece. Cinemas all over the country sold out of every showing as people flocked to see this controversial film. "It made me feel convicted," stated Ben Hancock. The movie has had amazing affects on people as their teary eyes are glued to the screen. Seeing what Jesus went through for us makes the words “He died for our sins” a belittling statement. The Passion of the Christ covers the last 12 hours of Jesus' life from His prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane to His crucifixion on the cross and to His glorious resurrection. The graphic details of the film take the viewers through every minute of His torture. Throughout the entire movie, the only sounds to be heard were the soft sounds of people crying. At the end of the movie, no one moved. No one stood up. People were crying. People were praying. As people left, still no one talked much. Everyone had shared in the same moving, awe inspiring, convicting experience. It was magnificent. "Definitely not a popcorn movie," stated Dr. Chad Ross. To watch this movie and to say that there is no God is to see a leaf and say that there is no tree or to see rain and say that there is no cloud. This is one movie everyone in the world should see over and over again!

Gay Marriages

As you all know by now, there are many states starting to allow gay marriages. This is also a growing sin among young people today. A shocking 10% of the world's population claim to be homosexuals. The governments should not be supporting them and should not be marrying them in God's name. God has granted us the gift of marriage to a man and a woman, not a man to a man.

If man and man or woman and woman is being married in God's name, then God's glorious name is being taken in vain. God has made us very unique. He also made our bodies unique. Our bodies are made to fit together perfectly in the context of marriage between a man and woman. Homosexual marriage is wrong and should not be legalized. Remember, God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

Leviticus 18:22 “...You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.”

Ben Hancock
