Richmond Academy has received accreditation from the Indiana Department of Education.

The Freeway School Pro gram for private schools recently accredited all K-12 grades serviced by the Richmond, Academy, 2000 W. Main St.

“There are many advantages to receiving this accreditation,” headmaster S. Chad Ross said in a press re lease. “Perhaps the most important aspect of this process is that people can expect to receive the same Christian private quality education and professional atmosphere to be endorsed and protected.”

Ross has worked with children for the past 11 years to meet the demand for private Christian education in the area.

Richmond Academy is an independent institution not directly affiliated with any church.

“(The accreditation) gives Richmond Academy a validation and (Ross) has been working really hard,” board member and parent Larry Price said. “It’s pretty unusual, being that the academy is only two years old, to get the accreditation so soon.”

Price said some families were waiting for the accreditation before enrolling kids in the school.

“I like the quality of the education, the attention my two kids get with the three-to-one student/teacher ratio,” Price said “I would like for the school to grow, but it’s a blessing to have small classes.

Price said he is excited about the accreditation be cause it becomes more important as his second and third kids near high school.

“I really wanted my kids to have a Christian environment and they are doing great,” Price said. “We have great teachers. Being in the second year, its good to watch it grow and develop.”

“This indicates a definite need. Our goal is to continue building a school of excellence,” Ross said.
